03 Matrix XRS perfect fit

Bought this for my 03 Matrix XRS. Took less than 5 minutes to replace and was a perect fit. I used a stiff small edge putty knive to pry up the FRONT of the panel next to the passenger front button. DO NOT pry from the side nearest the rear window control buttons or youll break the tab that holds that side down. Once you lift out the controller from the door, unplug the wiring harness by firmly pressing the release tab (I used a small flat head screwdriver to do this)and wiggling back and forth while the tab is pressed. Use a small Phillip screwdriver to remove the 3 underside screws that hold on the faceplate and put the faceplate on the new controller. Replace screws and wiring harness Place controller in door bottom first at a 45 degree angle with the rear window controls down. Firmly press down on front until it clicks and your done.

This took about 5 minutes to install and I’m not very handy at all! I watched a couple of YouTube videos and they were taking the door panel off. Hell to the no on that. All you do is remove the cover and pull the old switch out. You have to release it from the thing it’s plugged into and that was the most difficult part for me but you just use a flat head screwdriver to release it. Then plug it in to the new switch, attach it to the plate cover with the same screws it came with and snap it into place.

Great basic switch, used on my 2004 Toyota Matrix very easily, plug and play. The "auto" up button for driver side window is also lit up, which is nice. won't be bringing Frankenstein's monster back to life, but you will be able to move your windows up and down.

The biggest pain was taking my door apart. As for the switch, it came quickly & well-packed. It fit in & hooked up perfectly, and seems to work better than my old one did when the car was new (or maybe it was flaky for so long I forgot how it was originally...?). It's only been a couple of months, so I can't comment on the lifespan of this, but so far I'm very satisfied.

I replaced the master control with this, which took me about 15 minutes (No eperience in car repairs).It works fine, and the "AUTO" button is lighted too, while the original wasn't.I followed instructions of a YouTube video, and it was fairly easy. Basically, unplug the old, plug-in the new part.The Toyota dealer quoted me $475.00 for the switch, plus labor, and charged me $175 to 'diagnose' the problem.I think I saved a ton of money, and the switch was delivered within 3 days. The dealer wanted around five hundred dollars to repair this. My wife installed this in about an hour. It works just fine. She said it wasn't overly difficult. So, do it, save the money and maybe enjoy some tinkering.

This saved me about $350, since the dealer wanted to charge $400 for this part. Thank you Switch Doctor! The part is made in China, so I don't know if it's really a Toyota part, but it seems pretty much identical to the original. The only frustration is that it didn't come with screws, so we had to get some from the hardware store. Luckily, the part we removed had one screw left, so we could match it. The bigger question is what happened to Toyota quality control that this part would need to be replaced in a car with 50K miles on it in the first place, but that's another matter. I'm just truly thankful that Switch Doctor sells on Switch Doctor and I could save the money, since the dealer price seems insanely expensive.

Very easy to install, and do it yourself. Just be sure to open the cover from the top right side (with a flat piece of plastic or flathead screwdriver), as there is a metal tab underneath that pops it open. After that it as easy as unscrewing the switch to the cover and plug and play. Compared to the quote I got for the dealer ($820 CAD just for the part), this was a much better solution!
